This model is the newest double horn in the range.

Already in the 1970s, a double horn with a similar design was built.

The idea for this first model arose from conversations with the American horn player Milan Yancich (1921-2007, horn player, among others, Chicago Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra; professor, among others, Eastman School of Music).

Essential elements of the Geyer construction method were adopted for this model and transferred to our K model (model 1103). In total, a dozen of these horns were made and became known as the "Heldenhorn".

As international interest in Geyer-style horns has steadily increased in recent years, the idea of the "Heldenhorn" is revived again in 2016.

A few prototypes of this new model are manufactured for an exhibition trip to Australia where they met with an enthusiastic response.

Through intensive exchange of ideas and tests with national and international professional horn players, a production model of this horn was soon developed and in 2017 it was offered to horn players with the model number 1106.

The basis for our new "Heldenhorn" is the model 1103 K.

The body and the taper of the lead pipe and bell are identical for both horns.

The main difference between these models is the design of the F-pump.

The sharp bends in the F-branch of the 1103 have been opened up in the "Heldenhorn" to a sweeping curve that exits directly from the valve block and runs in an open wrap along the body.

With this construction, starting with the long lead pipe and continuing with the open wrap design, a very pleasant and light response is achieved.

The model is built standard in yellow brass with a threaded bell and hand-hammered flare. This gives the horn excellent carrying power and an unmistakable typical Alexander sound that also blends easily with other Alexander models.
